The city of Salem lifted its snow emergency and parking ban at 6 this morning after an overnight snow storm left only several inches of snow on city streets.

An announcement was posted on the city’s website this morning alerting residents that the ban had been lifted.

The ban started at 10 p.m. yesterday, according to the city’s website, and all vehicles had to be completely removed from city streets, as well as private and public parking lots, or they would have been ticketed and towed.

In light of the parking ban and snow emergency, the Department of Public Services clears out alternative parking areas for residents.

A spokesperson from the Department of Public Works, the agency that issues the alerts, was unable to be reached for comment.
