Salem public schools closed, parking ban in effect

The city of Salem declared a snow emergency, which was effective at midnight on Thursday. Due to the inclement weather, all Salem public schools have cancelled classes for the day as well.

During the snow emergency, a parking ban is in effect and vehicles must be completely removed from city streets and sidewalks or they will be ticketed and towed.


Below is a list of alternative designated parking areas:

• Museum Place Parking Garage - 50 cents per hour
• South Harbor Garage - 50 cents per hour
• Blaney Street Parking Lot (Salem Ferry Landing)
• Forest River Park
• Gallows Hill lower
• Mack Park
• Broad Street Playground
• Castle Hill Playground
• Salem Willows Park
• Bentley School Lot
• Carlton School Lot
• Witchcraft Heights School Lot
• Bates School Lot
• Saltonstall parking area on Salem Street only
• Collins Middle School - Jackson Street parking area

This snow emergency will remain in effect until further notice.
