Aiming to encourage healthy lifestyles, the Salem Chamber of Commerce and Salem Renewable Energy Task Force are hosting the sixth annual Living Green and Renewable Energy Fair.

The event will take place on Saturday May 18 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Old Town Hall at 32 Derby Square.

The fair will bring together green industry professionals and consumers from the Greater Boston and North Shore areas to discuss products, services and information that encourage healthier, more sustainable consumption and lifestyles for businesses and families alike.

Over 40 vendor booths will be handing out information regarding ways to live eco-friendly lifestyle, and there will be prizes and free giveaways as well.

The Beautification Committee will give a preview of the 2013 Salem Farmer's Market, displaying a wide assortment of home-grown perennials, and a selection of hanging baskets. Rain barrels, composters, water conservation garden spray nozzles and recycling bins will also be available for purchase.

In display at the fair will be a converted grease car, which uses vegetable oil an alternative fuel for diesel engines. The owner of the vehicle, Steve Majeski, will be on hand to answer any questions.

Go Green Web Directory, a local green business directory and community offering information about products, services, businesses, events and living green in Massachusetts, is sponsoring this year's event.
