The organizers of Heritage Days organizers are strongly urging people who plan to attend this weekend’s celebration to park at the Greenbush commuter rail parking lot and at Scituate High School, then take a shuttle that runs to the waterfront.

Jesse Bateman, the event coordinator and owner of Edward Jones Investments on the harbor, said the free shuttle will follow a continuous loop from the lots to the harbor. The trip takes about five mintues and avoid the threat of getting a parking ticket.

The harbor district is closed to vehicles from the Cole Parkway to near near the town pier, compressing the already limited number of parking spaces in the harbor district. Many who park on side streets that extend from the harbor risk parking tickets, because usual spots are off limits during the festival.

“We put up paper signs, but they get torn down,” Bateman said.

Police will issue parking tickets to those who park on streets and areas that have been limited for the festival.

Bateman said the shuttle has always been utilized but organizers are getting the word out for their use more this year.

The Greenbush parking lot is located off the Driftway and Scituate High School is off Route 3A.
