Residents will have a chance to ask questions and make comments about proposed zoning changes at the Planning Board's public hearing in Town Hall tonight at 8 p.m.

A major part of the comprehesive zoning revision, which has been in the works for two years, addresses the town's changing housing needs. A special review committee has recommended changes in the zoning bylaws to allow residences in commercial zones and in-law apartments on structures such as garages and barns.

The committee also wants to clear up ambiguous definitions in the bylaws for places such as “commercial kennels” and “hotel,” and is recommending changes it hopes will streamline the “complicated process” businesses go through to change the number of spaces in a parking lot, Harbottle said.

After tonight's hearing, the Planning Board will work on presenting a proposal to Town Meeting.

The draft proposal can be viewed online.
