Scituate shelter's dog (and cat) days

Local pets will again be featured in the 2011 Paw Prints calendar of the Scituate Animal Shelter, which is accepting entries until April 15.

Each photograph requires an entry fee of $10, and about 275 of them will be chosen for the full-color, month-by-month calendar. A winning photo will be featured on the cover. This year's winner, "Howard," is shown above.

The calendar is expected to be available in June and will cost $12 each, said the shelter's Kim Stewart.

All proceeds from the calendar will support the work of the shelter, a nonprofit, no-kill facility serving the South Shore region.
