Summer classes and workshops

MONDAY
PORTRAIT GROUP--OPEN STUDIO.

WATERCOLOR—BEGINNING & INTERMEDIATE

Mary Beth is an highly successful artist with experience in both teaching and commercial art. Working in both these fields allows her to bring added dimension to her own work and to her teaching. Her watercolor class is suitable for the beginner and as well as the advanced student. Mary Beth provides a relaxed atmosphere which encourages growth and development. Each class will include demonstrations, critiques along with individual attention. Sessions will focus on painting from still life and photographs emphasizing technique so that the life behind the composition can emerge from the creator onto the canvas. Materials list provided.

FRIDAY
INTERMEDIATE & EXPERIENCED OIL PAINTING.

LANDSCAPES AND MORE... MARSHES, BOATS AND HARBORS

What better way to experience the beauty of our surroundings in Scituate, than capture it with an original oil painting. Learn the basics of outdoor color, light, perspective, distance and draftsmanship. Take advantage of the years of experience in plein Aire painting from your instructor with his helpful tips on making your art really zing. One indoor class, and three outdoor classes are presently on schedule (weather permitting) The outdoor classes can be rescheduled to fit the convenience of class participants.

BEGINNERS PASTEL PAINTING: 2- DAY SUMMER WORKSHOP
August 4 & 5, Wed & Thurs, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
$100 members/ $120 non-members.

Spend two enjoyable mornings to early afternoon outdoors (weather permitting) painting our striking local landscapes and seascapes in pastels with a local prize-winning pastel artist who has taken her pastels to New Mexico and Italy as well as the shores and woodlands of the South Shore.

*Some drawing experience recommended.
*Accent on composition and color
*One-on-one attention
*Class critiques

$100 Members/$125 Nonmembers for 5 sessions for 2 ½ hours.
Rolling admission with a flexible schedule and individualized projects, you can start at any time and attend on the day of your choice.

Schedule is subject to change due to vacation time and holidays. All students will be notified in advance.
