Despite recent rain, Scituate will have an additional water use restriction starting Thursday Aug. 18.
There has been a water ban on the town since July 6, barring the use of water to water lawns, fill pools, wash cars, or hose down driveways.
Restrictions were void for residents living in even numbered home on even numbered days after 5 p.m. and for odd numbered homes on odd number days after 5 p.m. However now all residents must comply with restrictions at all times.
Water may still be used from a hand-held hose for “essential purposes only,” according to the Scituate Town website
According to the website, violations will result in a $50 fine for the first offense and a $100 fine per day violated thereafter.
Residents are still encouraged to reduce the use of water whenever they can by taking shorter showers, running dish and laundry loads only when full, and turning off the water while brushing your teeth.
It is uncertain at this time when the ban will be lifted.
