Sandhills beach in Scituate was reopened to swimming Thursday afternoon, after the latest water test showed safe levels of bacteria.

The latest results showed 10 bacteria colonies per 100 milliliters of water; down from 265 earlier in the week. Beaches are closed for swimming when the level exceeds 104 colonies per 100 milliliters.

Sandhills has been closed three times this summer.
