Police are seeking an arrest warrant for a Scituate resident who allegedly shot a friend, then kidnapped and assaulted his girlfriend Monday morning.

Quincy police said they received a call at 2:32 a.m. from the Quincy Medical Center parking lot that a woman had had a knife held to her neck. She identified the suspect as her boyfriend.

The woman told police she had been at her boyfriend’s home in Scituate, when he and his friend got into an argument. The suspect allegedly shot his friend in the back of the head with a BB gun and forced the woman to drive him (the suspect) to Quincy.

The woman said her boyfriend was acting strangely in the car, grabbing the steering wheel. She took him to Quincy Medical Center, where she said he refused to get out of the car. When she attempted to get out of the car, he grabbed her arm and put a switchblade knife to her throat, police said.

A security guard saw the couple arguing. When he approached the pair, the suspect allegedly ran away.

Police arrived and found the switchblade knife in the car cup holder. Canines attempted to track the suspect but lost the scent.

As a result of the woman's statements, police are seeking an arrest warrant against Christopher Merrill, 25, from Scituate for assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, and kidnapping.
