Charles Stockbridge The Night Watch (2).JPG
Charles Stockbridge's oil painting "Night Watch" will be hung tonight on the Red Wall in the Front Street Art Gallery, during the Harbor Stroll from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The 30" by 40" painting depicts the Titanic at 11 p.m. on April 14, 1912, just minutes before it hit the iceberg that caused the ship to sink. According to the gallery, Stockbridge attempted to recreate the position of the stars in the northern night sky at that exact moment.

The painting will be on display at the gallery, 124 Front St. in Scituate, until Jan. 2.
