Approximately 60 customers were without power in Scituate Thursday afternoon following strong wind gusts throughout the town on Wednesday evening.

Though there were sporadic power outages, that seemed to be the biggest problem due to the storm, which had wind gusts as high as 60 miles per hour.

According to Scituate Director of Public Works Al Bangert, the wind brought down "lots of limbs but no trees … Roads were not blocked. The diligent highway and grounds crew were out making sure all catch basins are cleared.”

Roads that were temporarily blocked by debris were cleared shortly thereafter, Bangert said.

Though things had calmed down by Thursday morning, a wind advisory was still in effect for the area through 6 p.m. Thursday.

According to weatherforyou.com, Scituate could expect to see widespread strong to damaging wind gusts throughout the day, with wind blowing from the west 15 to 25 miles per hour.

Gusts were anticipated to be as high as 55 miles per hour.

“The strongest winds have already occurred. Winds will slowly subside through this afternoon,” the website said.
