The new Planet Fitness of Shrewsbury in White City Plaza will host the winner of "The Biggest Loser," Jan. 7.
After dropping almost 200 pounds to win NBC's fitness game show, Patrick House is scheduled to visit the new 20,000 square foot gym to raise awareness about health living, according to a press release from the gym.
House, a former college football player, says he slowly gained weight after a serious injury, according to the press release. Around age 28, House weighed around 420 pounds, and was told by a doctor that he would probably suffer a heart attack sometime in the next five years.
In an effort to turn his life around, the Mississippi native joined season 10 of "The Biggest Loser," in 2010, exercising and following a healthy diet for six months. House dropped almost half of his body weight and won $250,000 for his first-place finish.
In addition to his physical transformation, House, who was unemployed before joining the show, is now working as a spokesperson for Cybex Workout Equipment and Planet Fitness, the gym said.
"It's such an amazing experience for me to realize just what I've done and I love to go around all over the country and share that with people," House said in the press release. "In doing that, I challenge and motivate them and inspire them to begin their own weight loss journey and hopefully they'll join me in taking that first step towards living a healthier lifestyle."
Planet Fitness is holding a meet-and-greet with House on Jan. 7, as part of his spokesperson duties. Residents can stop by the club to hear House speak and get a tour of the new facility.
Planet Fitness is located at White City Plaza in the former Michaels location next to Iparty.
