somerville8.jpgA homeless man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a bank robbery in January.

Michael Coneeny, 28, of Cambridge, was arrested yesterday in Central Square on a warrant for the robbery of Citizens Bank on Broadway, which occurred Thursday, January 21 around 10:33 a.m. The FBI Violent Crimes Task Force partnered with Somerville and Cambridge detectives to make the arrest.

Coneeny will be arraigned on Wednesday in Somerville District Court.

According to police reports, a suspect fitting Coneeny's description entered Citizens Bank in January and passed a note to the teller demanding money. The suspect “gestured as if he had a gun,” before fleeing with a undetermined amount of cash.

The FBI is still investigating a March 5 bank robbery at Sovereign Bank on Broadway in which a male suspect demanded money from the teller and threatened he had a weapon. The man was described as being in his late 30s, with a heavy build who is about five feet, 10 inches tall.

He is considered armed and dangerous, the FBI said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at (617) 742-5533.
