The following is a letter to the editor from Somerville Fair Housing Commission:

To the editor:

The Somerville Fair Housing Commission would like to thank all the students and teachers at the Kennedy and Healey Schools who participated in the Fair Housing Poster Contest in April.

We would also like to thank the local businesses who supported the contest by donating prizes.  Winter Hill Federal Savings Bank and Wainwright Bank supplied the savings bonds that the 1st and 2nd place winners received in each category (third and fifth grade).  Caesar’s, Leone’s, Mama Gina’s, and Pini’s pizzerias donated the food for the pizza parties  the 3rd place contestants won for their whole classes.  Target donated a gift card that was used for beverages and paper plates.

All of them have helped us spread the word that Somerville is a place for fair housing, regardless of race or ethnicity, religion or language, family size or source of income.

Sincerely,

Stacey Pires, Chair
Terry Christopher, Commissioner
Dennis Fischman, Commissioner
