Father's Day fundraiser June 20
The following is a press release from the Community Action Agency of Somerville:
You know Dad is a generous guy. Think of all he’s given you over the years! Father’s Day is Sunday, June 20. Bring Dad to any of a list of Somerville restaurants on Father’s Day and the restaurant will make a donation in his honor to the Community Action Agency of Somerville (CAAS).
CAAS is Somerville’s anti-poverty agency. By treating Dad on Father’s Day, you’ll be helping other dads and moms to keep a roof over their family’s head…to get the child care they need so they can earn a living…and to move toward being able to support their families on their own.
Ball Square Café, Caesar’s Pizza and Subs, Café Belo, El Potro, Sabur Restaurant (brunch), Sweet Ginger, and Yak and Yeti are all participating in this fun charitable event. More locations may be added: check the CAAS web site, www.caasomerville.org, for a complete list. “We thank all the restaurants and all the families who will be contributing to CAAS on Father’s Day,” said Kimberly Smith-Cofield, Executive Director.
The mission of CAAS is to reduce poverty among local families and individuals while working to counteract, and whenever possible eliminate, the societal conditions that cause and perpetuate poverty. For help with early education and care, occupational safety and health, tenants’ rights, affordable housing issues, and the needs of at-risk immigrant youth, call CAAS at (617) 623-7370. For more information, please see the CAAS website at www.caasomerville.org.
