Somerville declares snow emergency

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone has announced that a snow emergency starting at 10 p.m. on Monday.

During snow emergencies, parking is allowed on the odd-numbered side of the street only. Cars not moved by 2 a.m. on Tuesday will be ticketed and towed. Residents unable to find a parking space on the odd-numbered side of the street may park in any municipal or school lot for the duration of the emergency.

Property owners must shovel their sidewalks or walkways following any snowstorm, or may be subject to city violations.

Residents may not use furniture, trash barrels, cones, or any other item to save parking spots on public streets. These items will be treated as trash, and disposed of by city crews.
