A fast-moving fire ripped through four Teele Square businesses and the Somerville Police Department West substation Saturday night.

The three-alarm blaze started about 11 p.m. at the Hawk Dry Cleaners on the corner of Broadway and Clarendon Street.

It soon spread to three other businesses: Nail Image salon, Kee Kar Lau Chinese restaurant, and Maria’s Italian Cold Cuts.

No one was hurt in the fire, but the single-story strip mall will have to be torn down, city spokeswoman Jacqueline Rossetti said.

Yesterday, city inspectors determined the building could not be salvaged. A temporary fence was erected to contain the piles of brick and rubble that spilled onto the sidewalk on Broadway.

People gaped, took photos, and pointed from car windows at the mess as utility crews worked to shut off electricity and gas lines to the properties.

“It’s a total loss," Rossetti said.
