Taste it all at East Somerville's Foodie Crawl
Community members enjoying the traditional Ethiopian dishes being served from Fasika Ethiopian Restaurant, at 147 Broadway.
On Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 6-9:30 p.m., East Somerville Main Streets brings you the "Eat Outside the Square Foodie Crawl." This event will be the first opportunity to explore the East Broadway restaurant corridor in one night.
Join this culinary expedition, where one ticket opens more than a dozen doors, from Zagat-rated restaurants to the charms of hand-cut Brazilian meat, and home-cooked Ethiopian, Haitian, Salvadorian and Mexican traditional dishes.
Spicing up the evening will be live entertainment and a gift for all "crawlers" from signature sponsor, Mezzo Design Lofts. The grand finale dessert reception will take place in the new, state-of-the-art Mudflat Studio building. All proceeds from this fund-raiser will support local nonprofit East Somerville Main Streets.
Making it a unique night, almost all of East Somerville’s restaurants will be participating in the Foodie Crawl. Some establishments include: Taco Loco, Vinny's Ristorante, Blessing Caribbean Restaurant, Tapatio Mexican Grill, Shaddai, Casey’s, Los Paisanos Restaurant, Blanca’s Bakery, Gauchao Brazilian Steakhouse, Maya Sol Mexican Grill, Ola Gifts Café, Fasika Ethiopian Restaurant, Mount Vernon Restaurant, and more to come.
"The Foodie Crawl uses the sights, sounds, and smells of Broadway’s restaurants and businesses as the backdrop for the event, making each flavor to be tasted along the way that much more memorable," said East Somerville Main Streets executive director Carrie Dancy.
"I'm looking forward to a chance to sample each of the unique cuisines represented in East Somerville. It's always delicious and there are so many things I haven't tasted even after 5 years of living here," said Eric Barry, Austin Street resident.
The event will take place in participating businesses along East Broadway, from Route 28 (McGrath Highway) to Sullivan Square, with starting points at both ends. To start the evening, ticket holders will check in at Foodie Crawl starting points located by Mount Vernon Restaurant (14 Broadway) and by Casey’s Bar (173 Broadway). Both locations are easily accessible by car and public transportation. East Broadway is accessible by the MBTA’s Orange Line stop at Sullivan Square, 1/2 block from the event’s starting point at the Mount Vernon Restaurant, and parking is available at the Stop and Shop at 775 McGrath Highway on a first come, first served basis.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, $3 for children 10 and under, and are available online at www.eastsomervillemainstreets.org, and in person at Mudflat Studio (81 Broadway), D-Squared Gift Shop (409 Highland Ave in Davis Square), and Thalia Tringo Real Estate (128 Willow Ave. in Davis Square). All proceeds go to benefit East Somerville Main Streets and the development of the East Broadway Business.
