Governor earmarks $20m for Green Line planning
A state investment plan released by Governor Deval Patrick's office to spend billions on capital improvement projects over the next four years includes nearly $20 million for Green Line Extension planning, according to a statement by the governor's office.
The $20 million will be paid for by state bonding, according to the report, released this month, and will go to fully fund phases 1 and 2 of the project's planning in fiscal year 2012, began July 1 and runs through the end of June.
In September, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority approved a preliminary $476 million multiyear plan to pay for about half of the $1.2 billion project.
The governor has also pledged his support, and has met with local legislative and municipal leaders to assure them of the long-delayed project's progress.
