Work from 10 artists will be shown at the Brickbottom Gallery for a show entitled "Familiar Faces: Family and Self-Portraits" starting in early February.

Curated by Lois Fiore, the exhibition is "is an invitation to artists and viewers to take a look at what we think we already know very well – our family and ourselves'' in what is otherwise an "overstimulated world,'' the artists say in a release.

"At times . . . looking at something familiar – the face of our child, or parent, or partner, or ourselves – tells us things that we can’t find anywhere else. Sometimes what looks like myopia is really panorama. Sometimes looking inward will open us up to the world,'' says a Brickbottom press release.

The show will run from February 2 to March 3. The opening reception is Sunday, February 5, from 5-7pm. The Brickbottom Gallery is located at 1 Fitchburg Street in Somerville.

Artists include: Sandra Allik, Sherry Autor, Bill Chisholm, Michael Crockett, Lois Fiore,www.loisfiore.com, Cynthia Frost, Lou Gippetti, Cynthia Maurice, Susan Schmidt, and David Sholl.
