A Somerville man is slated to go on trial Monday in Middlesex Superior Court for the alleged murder of an Everett woman who was stabbed to death in 2009.

Antonio Marcos Ferreira, 38, allegedly stabbed Sheila Dos Santos, 26, at 154 Main St. in Everett Oct. 2, 2009, according to the office of Middlesex District Attorney Gerard T. Leone Jr.

Authorities said Santos and Ferreira were in a dating relationship, but that Santos ended it months before she was found dead. Police said Ferreira had threatened Santos, and said that if he could not date her, no one could.

Ferreira was arrested in Charlestown a week after the stabbing and was indicted by a Middlesex County grand jury on first-degree murder.

At the time of the arrest, Leone said Ferreira had recently packed up and moved out of his Somerville apartment and had all of his possessions with him when he was arrested, including his Brazilian passport.

The victim, who also was from Brazil, was found with 33 stab wounds, according to Leone.
