Somerville Armory keeping it surreal for iBall celebration
The Somerville Arts at the Armory will host a spring fund-raiser May 10 called "iBall: Keeping it Surreal."
The event marks the third anniversary of the armory's opening. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $75 for a VIP reception that will include mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and musician Roger Miller, of the band Mission to Burma.
The evening will celebrate surrealism with a fashion show and makeup artists from local salons to do surrealist makeup. Miller is slated to teach "riotous surrealist games" developed in the 1920s and 1930s, during surrealism's heyday.
“It's a total hoot," said Miller, who has led the games at other events. "Everyone has a blast."
The event runs from 7 to 11 p.m., with the VIP reception beginning at 6 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit artsatthearmory.org or call 617-718-2191. Arts at the Armory is located at 191 Highland Ave., Somerville.
Tickets can be purchased online at Brown Paper Tickets.
