A Somerville mixologist will put his cocktail skills, charm, and stage presence to the test June 4, when he will advance to a national drink-mixing contest in Las Vegas.

Sam Treadway, a nine-year bartending veteran who is head bartender at Union Square's Backbar, advanced through the first round of Mixing Star, a national competition hosted by liquor brand Disaronno.

Treadway has worked all over the country, from the sun-soaked islands of Hawaii, to a beer-and-shot tavern in Minnesota, all the way to the swank pedigree of Fort Point's Drink.

To earn his spot and advance, Treadway won the Northeast regional competition in New York City held last week.

The winner in Las Vegas will win a role in a Bollywood film.
