This month, Somerville children and families are invited to pitch tent, make camp, and enjoy a night in the urban wild at the city's third annual campout.

Slated for the night of July 28 at Lincoln Park, the evening is a chance to sit 'round a campfire, grill tasty food, and tell stories.

Songs and activities are scheduled for the late afternoon Saturday for families who do not want to stay overnight. Porta-potties, police security, fire pits, and portable grills will be provided

Residents should bring tents, sleeping pads, and other personal items necessary to stay the night.

If rain is forecast for July 28, the campout will be held July 27. Campers are welcome to set up tents anytime after noon on the day of the event.
