Efforts to bring a Pinkberry frozen yogurt shop to Davis Square have apparently resurfaced in the form of an online petition.

Plans to open one of the nationwide soft serve parlors at 263 Elm St. came to a halt in October, when an application for a special permit from the city's zoning board to convert the space to fast food service was withdrawn. Little has been heard of future plans for the site until the petition recently appeared on iPetition.com.

If a Pinkberry does end up opening, it will be the third frozen yogurt shop to recently join Davis Square. Orange Leaf, 256 Elm St. Unit 103, and iYo, 234 Elm St., both opened earlier in 2012.

The petition, which has Pinkberry New England listed as its sponsor, says Pinkberry would bring qualities the other shops don't have: "The yogurt is uniquely tangy, the shop is not self-service, and the ambiance and products appeal to a clientele not currently being met by other businesses in Davis Square." It seeks 1,000 signatures.
