A man who brandished a handgun in robbing three Medford convenience stores last Thursday is believed to have hit a Somerville store Sunday, according to police.
The suspect approached the counter of the Quick Stop Convenience Store at 219 Highland Ave. placed a candy bar on the counter, then pulled a long barreled handgun from his pocket and demanded cash from the register and "the box under the counter" when the store clerk opened the till, according to video footage. He made off with about $1,000 in cash, Somerville Deputy Police Chief Paul Upton said in a statement.
The man wore a black knit cap and grey striped pants in the Somerville robbery and the three that took place in Medford Jan. 24.
In two of the Medford robberies, he was seen leaving in a white pickup truck with black ladder racks, police said. No vehicle was seen in the Somerville robbery, police said.
