Somerville Theatre to host city MLK Day celebration

Somerville will hold a Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration with live music, speakers, and an awards ceremony at the Somerville Theatre on Monday, according to an announcement from the city.

Lorraine Cordeiro, an assistant professor at UMass, will deliver the keynote address; performers will include AfroD, youth from the Elizabeth Peabody House, and the Somerville High School Dance Group, the announcement said.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
