A Somerville Alderman is tired of a local Burger King failing to shovel its sidewalk, and she wants residents to help send a message by boycotting the establishment.

"I've had it with Burger King," Maryann Heuston said Thursday. "We need to make a statement loud and clear."

As of Wednesday, the Burger King at 185 Somerville Ave. had still not shoveled out from the snow storm that hit almost a week earlier, a recurring trend at the restaurant, Heuston said during Thursday's Aldermen meeting.

The city has issued the branch multiple citations, but that has had no effect, she said.

"If the average Joe can go out there and shovel their own sidewalk, or in some cases pay people to go out there and shovel their own sidewalk, a large corporation like Burger King should be ashamed of itself," Heuston said.

Aldermen unanimously approved a resolution brought forward by Heuston to send a letter noting the city's dissatisfaction with the restaurant to Burger King's CEO and district and regional managers.

"This is unconscionable," Heuston said. "It happens every time we have a big snow storm."

In Boston, the city cited Walreens for failing to shovel at five stores.
