A committee will review a prospective appointee to the Somerville Board of Aldermen Wednesday.
The aldermen's Confirmation of Appointments Committee meets at 7 p.m., when it is expected to interview Courtney O'Keefe and review her qualifications to be appointed as the representative of Ward 5.
Sean O'Donovan announced his resignation from the board last week, and recommended that the committee appoint O'Keefe, who serves on the city's Zoning Board of Appeals and Human Rights Commission.
Aldermen Bruce Desmond and Bob Trane urged the board to approve O'Keefe's appointment on Thursday. But other aldermen chose to send the appointment to committee for review. Ward 4 Alderman Tony Lafuente called for a change in the process that would allow residents to pick their own representative to the board.
O'Donovan's resignation was the second from the board in five months. In December, Alderman William Roche resigned to take a job as the city's human resources director. His appointment, then-School Committee member Maureen Bastardi, was appointment immediately.
Wednesday's meeting will be held on the second floor of City Hall.
