Deb McLaughlin and Jen Lawrence, former administrators at Arts at the Armory in Somerville, are asking artists, crafters recyclers and upcyclers to submit their work for an art contest features items made of recycled items.

Trash Bash, scheduled for May 19 at the Arts at the Armory, is the largest celebration their company, 3 Graces Productions, will put on since forming in January. 3 Graces is an event services company that plans to bring Somerville together through local food, business and art to showcase individual talents.

“We’re very mindful of how much waste we generate as a nation,” McLaughlin said.
“We thought Trash Bash would be a great opportunity to combine the community, who’s interested in art, and reducing your carbon footprint, even in an urban area.”

McLaughlin said she left Arts at the Armory, a non-profit, to celebrate a community in a variety of ways and in different settings, which will eventually include outdoor and industrial spaces.
