Officials in Somerville will hold a public meeting to discuss plans for a new park near the corner of Pearl and Florence streets.

The city plans to transform the 8,267-square-foot vacant lot into a park space that will serve as a community focal point as the neighborhood is redeveloped with the introduction of a new MBTA stop as part of the Green Line Extension project, according to city officials.

Mayor Joseph Curtatone and Alderwoman Maureen Bastardi will host the meeting, which takes place Monday, July 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Capuano School on Glen Street.
