Somerville Police are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a man who was apparently talking on his cell phone while robbing a Santander Bank in Davis Square Thursday afternoon.
Police said the man entered the bank at 403 Highland Ave. about 1:10 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money before fleeing with an undetermined amount of cash.
No weapons were shown in the robbery, and police said in a press release Thursday afternoon that the only attempt the man made to shield his face during the hold-up was while he was apparently talking on his cell phone.
Police said the man was described as white, in his late 30s and wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt with dark colored pants. The Massachusetts Bankers Association is providing a reward for information leading to the identity, arrest and conviction of the suspect and any accomplices.
Anyone with information can call the FBI Task Force at 617-742-5533 or the Somerville Police Criminal Investigation Division at 617-625-1600 extension 7220.
