Somerville has declared a snow emergency effect at 3 p.m. Tuesday for a winter storm expected to begin in the afternoon and continue into Wednesday morning.

Parking will be allowed on the odd-numbered side of the street during the emergency unless otherwise posted, according to the city. Cars not moved by 7 p.m. Tuesday evening will be subject to ticketing and towing. Residents unable to find a parking spot may park in any municipal parking lot during the snow emergency and the city’s snow emergency and removal policies can be found at www.somervillema.gov/snow.

The National Weather Service is forecasting six to 10 inches of accumulating snow are possible for the area.
