Sick of doing the same old singles party on Valentine’s Day? Get your climb on at Brooklyn Boulders Somerville as they host ValenTINDER, an event providing single fitness junkies an opportunity to mix and mingle with other likeminded singles in the area.

Nick DiBella, the marketing director at BKBS, said the Somerville rock climbing facility is happy to utilize TINDER, a mobile networking and dating app, to connect people who may be looking to meet their new, special climbing partner.

“[ValenTINDER] is designed for athletic singles, for people looking to do something a little more blood pumping on Valentine’s Day,” DiBella said. “You can try climbing with someone new and maybe wind up partners.”

DiBella said that the event offers something different than the typical single night out club experience. He said that by using TINDER, BKBS hopes that plenty of people in the area can take advantage of the app’s ability to put people from the same locale into the same building. In this case, they’re using an awesome night with food, drinks, and music to get people on the bouldering wall.

“You can actually get to know each other and do something physical to stimulate conversation. We call it ‘Valentine’s Day Done Differently.’ They like the same kinds of things as you, plus there’s plenty of space so you can go off climbing and get to know each other,” DiBella said.

The night is intended for people of all climbing abilities. He said that whether it’s someone’s first time or they are an expert, they can use the wall as a way to teach, learn, or find someone at their own level.

DiBella said this event provides a unique experience for singles. He said there’s often not many choices that enable people to really get to know each other, and that ValenTINDER provides an awesome opportunity to do just that while also having a great time.

“It really is Valentine’s Day done completely different,” DiBella said. “It’s for people who are tired of going to a bar or crowded restaurant on a busy night and for those who want try something completely new.”

ValenTINDER will take place on Friday, February 14 from 8 to 10 p.m. Admission is $22 and includes climbing wall and fitness access until midnight. Music will be provided throughout the night by DJ Hollisto. Attendees will also enjoy pizza from Cambridge- and Somerville-based Area Four and drinks from Narragansett Brewing Company.

To receive a $5 discount, show your TINDER profile at the door with a profile picture of yourself rock climbing. For more information, visit the event’s website.
