With the preliminary election over and Councilor Bill Linehan’s and Suzanne Lee’s campaign machine heading into full gear, the big question is who will defeated candidate’s Bob Ferrara 1,689 votes go to.

Ferrara managed to take 25 percent of the votes in the September preliminary election, a sign that he holds some clout in the neighborhood.

In a recent interview with Boston.com Ferrara said he is not putting his support behind one of the remaining candidates.

“As of right now I’m not taking a side. I don’t really like to get into that game,” said Ferrara.

Ferrara said the election is not up to him but the residents.

“I think it’s going to be up to the people. We need to see a debate in South Boston, people need to be informed,” said Ferrara.

Ferrara, a self-employed, life-long native of South Boston, often focused his campaign on his difference between him the incumbent City Councilor Bill Linehan. He said he thinks both candidates need to address the neighborhood.

“I’d like to hear some honest debate. I want to see him [Linehan] actually defend his record,” said Ferrara.

“Suzanne Lee needs to talk about her vision as well and really address the community,” added Ferrara.

The general election will be Nov. 8. In District 2, which encompasses the South End, South Boston, Chinatown, Bay Village and a small portion of Dorchester residents will now have to make a choice between Lee, a long-time activist, educator and Chinatown resident, and City Councilor Bill Linehan, a South Boston native.

As of Sept. 30 there has not been a forum featuring both of the current candidates in South Boston.
