As challenger Suzanne Lee and incumbent Bill Linehan head into the final stretch in the District 2 City Council race, they are seeing a surge in their campaign bank accounts.

Linehan’s recent filings with the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance show he has nearly $48,000 in cash on hand. Lee has close to $10,000 cash on hand.

Lee topped Linehan in expenditures for the period between Sept. 16–Sept. 30, spending around $8,000 on office supplies along with poll signs. Mailing pieces were her most expensive expenditure at $5,213.

Linehan remained conservative with his funds during the period of Sept. 16-Sept. 30, spending $2,810. Linehan’s biggest expenditure went toward his campaign coordinator, Christin Linehan Armour, totaling $1,791.

Linehan also had a large amount of contributions during that period, totaling more than $27,000 compared to the $11,7500 he reported in his Sept. 1-Sept. 15 filing.

Lee also saw a bump in contributions, reporting nearly $9,000 in contributions in her Sept. 16 – Sept. 30 filing compared to her filing Sept. 1 – Sept. 15 where she reported receiving just over $4,000.

District 2 covers South Boston, Chinatown, the South End, Bay Village, and parts of Dorchester.

The general election will be held Nov. 8.
