South Boston residents will be out in the streets sweeping, raking, and planting this weekend for Boston Shines, Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s city-wide spring cleaning.

Although there will be a slew of organizations out Saturday working to clean up the neighborhood, the West Broadway Neighborhood Association will also be adding a little green. Volunteers will be planting six London Plane trees at the Foundry Street train yard Saturday morning and are always looking for a few helping hands.

The group will meet on Foundry Street at the train yard behind 9 West Broadway at 9:00 a.m. and the planting and general cleanup is expected to run till 1:00 p.m.
