Tasty Burger to open South Boston location
Tasty Burger, which bills itself as "an American fast food burger joint,'' will soon be moving into South Boston on L Street.
David DuBois, the CEO of the Franklin Group, Tasty Burger’s parent company, confirmed Tuesday morning that the burger place will be opening a location in South Boston this summer.
Tasty Burger currently has one location in Fenway and is expected to open another one in Harvard Square by the fall.
“We like South Boston a lot,” said DuBois. “Plus it’s a cool opportunity to do a little burger stand.”
DuBois said the new restaurant, which will be "walk-up" and not a sit-down restaurant, will be located on L Street in the former home of the Boathouse. Sullivan’s, the famed burger and hot dog stand, is located at nearby Castle Island.
Tasty Burger’s move to the neighborhood isn’t a first for the Franklin Group. It currently operates the Franklin Café Southie at 152 Dorchester Ave.
"Outstanding fresh ingredients are cooked to order in an incredibly fun, laid back atmosphere that has made “Tasty” an instant classic,'' the company says on its website.
The Boston Phoenix reported that the Tasty Burger stores borrowed the name from a scene in the 1994 film "Pulp Fiction,'' in which actor Samuel L. Jackson took the burger from a young man and says "That is a tasty burger."
