Through a 2011 federal grant awarded to Boston, the city was able to install a number of solar panels on the roof of the Public Works Department’s Frontage Road pumping station.

The panels, which line the roof and are visible to drivers on I-93, will provide back-up power for the pumping station and first responders.

The time-lapse video shown above was created by Massachusetts-based photographer Jay Groccia. Groccia specializes in architecture and time-lapse films.
