The Polar Express made a stop in South Boston Sunday as St Peter’s Academy held its second-annual fund-raiser.

With hot cocoa, games, and even a snow machine, area children and their families celebrated the holiday season. Youths got a chance to meet Santa and take a ride on the trolley through South Boston and back to Santa’s Village at the Boston Teacher’s Union Hall.

“Our incredible school would not succeed without this magnificent community. The Second Annual St. Peter Academy Polar Express was a reminder of the spirit of the Christmas; people coming together and enjoying each other's company,” Maryann Crush, president of the school’s Board of Directors, said in a statement “Nothing can beat seeing the joy on those precious children’s' faces!”

According to the school over 400 people attended Sunday’s event and all proceeds will benefit the St. Peter's Home and School Association and the South Boston based Catholic school's annual operating costs.
