Jimmy Flaherty Kick-off Breakfast set for Saturday
The South Boston Citizens Association will hold its annual Jimmy Flaherty Kick-off Breakfast this weekend.
The event gives residents a chance to catch up and talk about all their plans for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
Four local residents will also be presented with the Henry Knox “Unsung Hero” Award at Saturday's breakfast, recognizing them for their work in the community.
This year the four recipients will be: Bryon Tunney, owner of the Java House and South Boston Bowl; Arthur Fritch, who among other things volunteers with South Boston Youth Hockey; Kaitlin Linehan, a local musician; and Fr. Joe White of St. Vincent’s Church.
"It is an honor to recognize these individuals who dedicate their time and energy to the South Boston Community,” Tom McGrath, president of the association, said in a statement. “I hope the community will join me and others on Saturday the 23rd to honor these men and women."
The event will be held Sat., Feb. 23, at the Cornerstone Pub located at 16 West Broadway. Doors open at 10 a.m.
Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10. Or contact Tom McGrath at 857-204-5825.
