American Provisions has wine and beer out on its shelves after the final details on the store’s retail liquor license were completed.

“We were really stoked to sell our first bottle of wine,” said Matt Thayer, the co-owner of the shop.

Located at 613 East Broadway, the niche cheese and meats store had been working for the past six months to secure a license to allow it to sell wine and beer.

The license was approved by the Boston Licensing Board in November. Last week the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission signed off, and bottles went out on the shelves Tuesday.

“Day one was awesome,” Thayer said. “It’s been a long process for us.”

The store, which opened in 2010, faced some community opposition to selling small-batch wine and beers. Those opposed to the license said the community is already over-saturated with liquor licenses.
