TV directors are headed back to South Boston as NBC prepares to film a pilot of its TV show "Hatfields and McCoys" in the ever-popular neighborhood.
Crews will be filming in the A Street, Athens Street, and West Third Street areas Thursday, Apr. 2, according to an email from the West Broadway Neighborhood Association.
A community meeting has been set for 7 p.m. Wed., Mar. 27, at the corner of A Street and West Third Street with the show’s crew to go over plans for anticipated overnight work.
The neighborhood has been much sought after by movie and television show producers of late, including a reality TV show.
The Boston Globe reported that the Hatfields & McCoys is a modern-day take on the family feud that stars Sophia Bush, Rebecca De Mornay, and Virginia Madsen.
The show, set in present-day Pittsburgh, follows the struggle between the working-class McCoys and wealthier Hatfields, according to the The Hollywood Reporter blog.
Scenes for the pilot have also been filmed in the South End.
In a separate blog post on the neighborhood association’s website, Ryan Cook, the Assistant Location Manager for the show, said crews will be working in the neighborhood from 8 a.m. Apr. 2 to 4 a.m. Apr. 3. Filming is expected to start in the evening.
The filming of a “car chase sequence” will start on Athens Street (behind The Standard Rivet Company) at 6 p.m. and will go until 11 p.m. with “pyro effects” taking place, the post said.
From 11 p.m. – 1 a.m. crews will be filming on A Street from West Third Street to Athens Street.
Finally from 1 a.m. – 4 a.m. crews will be filming on West Third Street from A Street to B Street.
