Two South Boston non-profits are giving away trees to South Boston residents and business owners, free of charge.

The Plant-A-Tree Program, led by Southie Trees and the South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation, aims to get more trees planted in the urban neighborhood.

First come first serve, the program will supply selected parties with a tree, planting supplies, and a planting how-to.

In addition to the supplies, a mandatory planting day will be held April 20 for all applicants who are chosen.

Anyone who lives in the community and is able to plant a tree on their property or in an adjacent green space is encouraged to apply, but they have to do it quickly because the deadline for applications is April 15.

Applications can be found here and should be emailed to southietrees1@gmail.com or delivered to the SBNDC office at 365 West Broadway.
