Another reality based television show is coming to South Boston, though it will have to share billing with two other neighborhoods.

Undaunted by the less-than-stellar response to two other Southie-based shows, Discovery Channel is about to launch "Saint Hoods,'' which, a press release says, "will showcase three of Boston's most powerful crews, Southie, Roslindale, and Dorchester, as they vie for customers in the lucrative business of sports gambling.''

The show even includes a player in the James "Whitey" Bulger saga: Patrick Nee, one of the gangster's associates. Nee himself has co-authored a book, entitled "A Criminal and An Irishman: The Inside Story of the Boston Mob.''

"Southie, the largest and most powerful crew in Boston, is run by the notorious Pat Nee, famed for his battles with gangster Whitey Bulger,'' the Discovery press release says.

The release is breathless in its description of Boston: "For centuries, Boston has been run by tough neighborhood crews that are in a constant battle for ultimate control and power.''

Lest anyone get the wrong idea, though, the release cautions that it's not entirely true: "Some identifying information and property has been change in the series and some scenes have been dramatized.''

The latest offering follows "Southie Rules'' and Wicked Single, as the Caught in Southie site points out, while also adding that "both tanked.''

Saint Hoods is scheduled to premiere Friday, August 2 at 10 pm.
