Last year’s competition was the first time the squad of 13- to 15-year-olds were on the national stage, and they took home third-place.
Next week’s event is exciting for all the team's members, but also a chance for the team's veterans to grab the gold one last time.
“For a lot of them it’s their last year and they wanted to have another go at it,” said Collen Moran, 23, the team’s head coach. “It’s really exciting; they’ve all been working really hard.”
The 13 member roster includes girls from South Boston as well as Dorchester and the North End.
“They have worked so hard to perfect and improve their skills and were willing to do whatever it took to make it back to Disney World,” Moran said.
With a routine centered on Boston-centric music, Moran thinks her team will have that extra edge. She also hopes her new gym CLK Tumbling can help give her girls an advantage.
“They want so badly to bring a national title home to South Boston, and no one deserves it more than they do,” Moran added.
A fundraiser for the team is being held Friday at the Seapoint Bar and Grill, located at 367 East 8th St.
The event, set to begin at 7 p.m., will also include a raffle.
