Teenager killed in South End shooting
By Taylor M. Miles, Globe Correspondent
An 18-year-old male died tonight after being shot multiple times near a South End hair salon, law enforcement officials said.
Boston police received the call at approximately 7:20 p.m. and the victim was found inside El Barberitos Unisex, but it was unclear where the shooting took place, according to Boston police spokesman Officer James Kenneally.
The victim, who was not identified, was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
About six uniformed officers were still on scene at about 9 p.m., along with the homicide unit. The section of West Brookline Street between Tremont and Aguadilla streets was cordoned off, as officers walked in and out of the doorway of the lit barbershop.
Nearby residents and passersby stood out of the streets, curious as to what had happened, while people sat outside eating just across the street at Tremont 647. One person on scene, who wished to remain anonymous, said he heard about three gun shots.
Officers were investigating the incident and the motive behind the shooting was not yet known. Kenneally said he had no information regarding possible suspects.
Police urged anyone with information regarding the incident to call the Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470, or anonymously through the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS.
