The captains of Boston’s two professional soccer teams will be teaming up with America SCORES Boston to bring soccer and poetry to city youths.

Shalrie Joseph, captain of the New England Revolution, and Leslie Osborne, captain of the Boston Breakers will be hosting the 2011 SCORES Celebration Nov. 9 at the Cyclorama in the South End.

The program will help raise money to bring after-school soccer and poetry programs to students in the Boston Public Schools.

The event will feature a mini-clinic along with a mini-scrimmage on the center’s indoor soccer field.

Along with the soccer clinic, there will also be a gala featuring a world class menu and throughout the night there will be interactive soccer exhibitions and poetry performances.

“Having played from an early age, soccer has been an integral part of my life. I’ve learned a lot from the game and I want to give these kids the same chance to learn it for themselves,” said Osborne in a statement.

SCORES Boston, part of the SCORES New England, is an after school program that uses soccer and poetry to encourage Boston youth to be engaged, healthy students.

The event will be from 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 9 at 539 Tremont Street in the South End.

Tickets and more information about the event can be foundonline.
