South End neighborhood association to elect board at next meeting
Members of the Blackstone/Franklin Square Neighborhood Association are set to vote to elect new executive board at the neighborhood group’s upcoming monthly meeting.
The neighborhood association is scheduled to meet Tuesday, June 12, at 7 pm in the Franklin House Library on East Newton Street to vote for new officers and on a number of other issues.
According to the agenda, the meeting will include the election of the executive board, and should lead to new some new officers on the board since the current president, secretary, and treasurer are not running for re-election.
Members will vote on the expansion of the South End’s Puerto Rican Veterans Memorial designed to honor the Puerto Rican men and women who served during all of America's wars.
Another vote will be on a zoning change that would allow Pathways to Wellness to lease a property on the corner of Washington and West Newton streets.
There will also be a vote on a letter seeking to move a station of the city’s bike-sharing program, Hubway, from the street on Washington Street to the sidewalk.
The association’s next monthly meeting is scheduled for July 10 and will act as a reception for the recipients of the association’s book scholarship.
